Dear Class of 2012 MFA Producing,

I am very pleased to welcome you as the first Tisch Asia International Media Producing Students. Congratulations on becoming part of an exciting new programme that will introduce you to the world of global media producing. This multi-disciplinary course will provide a framework for understanding both the art and the business of being a creative entrepreneur in the 21st Century.

As you know classes start on September 6th when you will study Producing Essentials, Copyright Law in the Digital Era, Foundations of Marketing, Story Analysis, Producing Practicum Film Production and Record Producer as Creative Artist. This is a challenging and demanding programme which combines practical and artistic skills. I hope you are finding time this summer to watch and read,  as well as come up with some brilliant ideas for future projects - to that end you will soon receive a list of films and books to which you should pay particular attention as you prepare for your course of study.

Producers must equip themselves with good ideas and talented co-workers as well as an understanding of the market, funding and technique. All of Tisch Asia looks forward to the part you will play in its professional and creative community.

On Monday August 30th we expect to see you at 9:00 am for Orientation Week (Schedule to follow). You will be introduced to the programme, the campus and your classmates, in all departments. This is a a five day orientation which will cover both the academic and student services aspects of life at Tisch Asia.
