Biography
Mark Dickerman has been a writer and a teacher for all of his professional life. He is credited on the film, Worlds Apart, directed by Amos Kollek, and on the documentary, No Immediate Danger, which won a Silver Hugo from the Chicago Film Festival. Primarily, a writer for the screen, Mark has written scripts for Hollywood studios, including Universal, Fox, and TNT, as well as independent film companies, Channel Four in Great Britain, and for HBO.
His scripts include Schweik, a feature film script adapted from the novel, The Good Soldier Schweik, for Lumin Films, Inc.; Tickets to Ride (screenplay coauthor) for Dan Wigutow Productions; Death the Musical, written with Charlie Purpura. His play, NAM, was developed and commissioned by the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles.
The film, One Angry Man, written by Mark Dickerman and James Felder and starring Jackie Mason opened in 2010. His latest screenplay, also with Mr. Felder, is Hotel Dick and it is now in production.
As a teacher, Professor Dickerman has been honored by the Tisch School of the Arts with The David Payne Carter Award for Teaching Excellence and The Great Teacher Award from the Department of Dramatic Writing. In the department, he has served as Head of Undergraduate Studies, Area Head of Screenwriting, and as the Chair of the department.
