Biography

Suzie Brand is an editor with over 15 years experience working in New York and London. She began as an award winning sound editor moving on to picture editing in broadcast television and the independent sector. Her work includes over 50 hours of documentary, mostly for the BBC and Channel 4, plus dance film and a documentary feature. ‘I draw my inspiration for editing from all types of filmmaking. Fiction and documentary influence each other. A strong story is the essential backbone of a film;  after that I enjoy editing and watching films where the director has really tried to be fresh and original in their approach to style.’

Suzie has also worked as a director for the BBC on subjects including the developing world, sexuality and architecture.

She has taught editing at Ravensbourne College of Art and Design, Roehampton University and The National Film and Television School, where she was a student on the Documentary Directing course. She has a B.A. in English Literature from York University and a post-graduate diploma in film and television from Bristol University.
