Producing for the Stage
H28.0185 Lecture 4 Credits
This course covers the fundraising, publicity, marketing, and booking, as well as issues such as renting rehearsal and performance space. We will start by making a production timeline for an imagined new work, and then spend the semester exploring the skills needed to get through the timeline effectively. Some of the issues we will be covering are: what does it mean to be “not-for-profit;” how to apply for a grant, write a fundraising letter, or throw a benefit party; how to get a gig; how and when to write a press release; marketing your work; contract negotiation; and time management.
